Srimad Valmiki Ramayana is an epic poem of India that tells the journey of Virtue to defeat vice. Sri Rama is the Hero and his journey is called aayana. In India, we believe that Sri Rama lived in the Treta Yug, thousands of years ago. We focus on what Srimad Valmiki Ramayana teaches us rather than when it was written.

Ramayana is one of the largest ancient epics in world literature, consisting of nearly 24,000 verses divided into seven books and about 500 chapters. In Hindu tradition, it is considered to be the adi-kavya (first poem). It portrays ideal characters and relationships, such as the ideal father, servant, brother, wife, and king.
